There has been significant progress since our pause in construction this spring due to the pandemic. Galleries and spaces are taking shape and becoming recognizable. Most of the larger physical building
construction is complete, making way for the installation of technology systems and exhibits in the galleries.
One of the most noticeable changes will be the installation of the Beacon sculpture. The impressive 12.5 ton, 2.5-story tall Corian® sculpture will be located in the lobby and extend through the ceiling toward the sky for all to see. Installation is scheduled to begin later this month and be complete later in October.
Because of the pause in construction this spring, we’ve shifted our grand opening to May 1, 2021. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to explore history in a whole new light as you find yourself in the story of our nation.
